Mr Lim with his BESA Certificate

The Best Engineering Student Award (BESA) 2021 has been awarded to Mr. Lim Mingzheng, a MEng (Electrical & Electronic Engineering) student from University of Nottingham Malaysia for his contribution in his final year project titled “Non-Volatile D Flip-Flop Design for Memory Application”. The project was focused on the development of Non-Volatile (NV) Memory using NV D Flip-Flop and memristor. The memristor was used in this project to retain the data in the event of power interruption. The simulation results displayed that NV D Flip-Flop based memory circuit was able to recover the data information when the power supply was interrupted. Also, in the project, using NV D Flip-Flop, two applications namely Non-Volatile Counter Design and Non-Volatile Shift Register were demonstrated. Both applications had revealed that they could restore the data perfectly even when the power interruptions were introduced. 

Last but not least, Mr. Lim would like to express his gratitude and appreciation for the mentorship of his supervisor, Prof.T.Nandha Kumar and PhD student, Mr.Chee Hock Leong for his consistent guidance. Their contributions had been monumental in this achievement. The winner received RM3,000 cash prize and a certificate.
